Will Dutta is emerging as an extremely exciting, versatile and creative young musician, collaborator and event producer. His recent projects have included work with DJ Yoda and The Heritage Orchestra, Plaid (Warp Records) and performances with Classical Brit Award-nominee violinist Jack Liebeck. Will recently completed his studies in 2007 at Trinity College of Music with Philip Fowke and Mikhail Kazakevich. Whilst a student he spent time at both the Rachmaninov Institute in Russia with Victor Merzhanov and at Yale School of Music in the USA with Boris Berman. His eclectic musical taste has led him to build a broad and varied repertoire, whilst his passion for new music has led him to work with composers such as Gabriel Prokofiev and Aziza Sadikova. His solo outings have seen him perform and give recitals for the British Liszt Society, Blackheath Halls, Charlton House, Lauderdale House, New Quays Piano Series, Regent Hall, St. Albans School, Winchester Cathedral and in Russia, the International Rachmaninov Festival. In 2006 he was to perform at the Chelsea Festival with a performance of Brahms Piano Concerto No.1 at Cadogan Hall. As passionate
a collaborator as soloist, Will has worked with some of the top young
British musicians including violinists Ellie Fagg, Jennifer Holt and Jack
Liebeck and flautist Eimear McGeown. In 2004 he undertook his first tour
of the UK with Jennifer Holt giving very successful debut recitals at,
amongst others, the Jacqueline du Pré Concert Hall in Oxford and
Winchester Cathedral. Chimera Productions conceptualised, commissioned and staged Gabriel Prokofiev's pioneering new work Concerto for Turntables & Orchestra, which featured DJ Yoda and The Heritage Orchestra, recently premiering to a packed out Scala in London as part of Audi's TT Remastered campaign. The work was broadcast on BBC Radio 1, both on Jo Whiley and Gilles Peterson's show and Will and DJ Yoda were also featured interviewees on Xfm's X-posure with new music guru John Kennedy. Chimera Productions assisted in the production of the successful Wired Up: Festival of Electronics in Performance at the beginning of 2007 for Trinity College of Music and most recently it launched Blank Canvas; a 'classical' club night, which sees Will host and perform with some of the most exciting musicians making a name in the UK and abroad. Guest artists include violinist Jack Liebeck, cellist Laura Moody, Gabriel Prokofiev (Nonclassical Records), Elysian Quartet, Dominic Murcott and Max de Wardener (Accidental Records). Will's future plans include working on a new work for piano, live electronics and visuals with Plaid and a short tour of South East India giving masterclasses and recitals. "The stark, uncompromising integrity of the piece was certainly a refreshing antidote to the patronising blandness of so many classical 'fusion' projects. Part of Audi's TT Remastered, a project dedicated to the reinterpretion and remastering of classic music, this was one of the most exciting musical premieres I've seen in a long time." Harry Blake, Guardian Online. "We were
then treated to two very talented young musicians who, despite playing
together for the first time, came across as though they had been orchestrating
this performance for years." Jude Anson, Essential Local Magazine. |
